Wilma Jean Hensley, beloved mother, grandmother, and caregiver, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024,St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Florence, Boone County, Kentucky. Born on May 28, 1946, in Owsley County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Simon Fox, Jr. and Dolly Carmack Fox. Wilma was a dedicated professional who devoted over 40 years of her life to Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton as a Certified Nursing Assistant, starting her work in the labor and delivery department.
Wilma's nurturing spirit extended beyond her career; she was a devoted caregiver in her personal life as well. After retirement, she found joy in sitting with many individuals, offering comfort and companionship. Her genuine warmth and compassion touched the lives of countless people throughout her lifetime.
A woman of many talents, Wilma was passionate about cooking and would often feed her family with love. She also took great pride in her flower gardens, cultivating beauty and serenity. An avid reader, she cherished time spent reading her Bible each day, drawing strength and inspiration from her faith.
Wilma is survived by her two daughters, Rita Faye Skirvin and Glenda (Les) Osbourne, both of Carrollton, KY. She is also survived by two sisters, Stella Louise Jackson of Carrollton, KY, and Loretta Thevenow of Madison, IN. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her four cherished fur babies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Eugene Hensley; her parents, Simon Fox, Jr. and Dolly Carmack Fox; and her siblings, Gertrude Fox Smith, Wanda Fox, Mary Fox Smith, Minnie Fox, Simon Fox, Jr., George Fox, Delmar Fox, and Taylor Fox. Each of these departed family members held a special place in Wilma's heart, and their memories will live on through the stories and love shared by those she leaves behind.
Visitation for Wilma Jean Hensley will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home located at 809 Highland Ave, Carrollton, KY. The funeral service will take place the following day, Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton..
Wilma's unwavering love for her family and friends, coupled with her dedication to helping others, has left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered, as a remarkable matriarch and gentle soul.
