Wilma Sue Shirley, 83, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at her home with family by her side. She was born on October 28, 1940 in Scott County, Indiana to the late Homer Meeks and Myrtle (Smith) Meeks. Sue graduated from Scottsburg High School in the class of 1958. Sue's warm and nurturing spirit endeared her to all who knew her, and her favorite job working at Hardy Lake gatehouse and boat dock brought her immense joy. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren and embraced the simple joys of life, such as taking leisurely walks. Sue was a devout Christian being a long time member of the Alpha Baptist Church in Deputy, Indiana and a more recent member of the Fisherman's Paradise Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. In addition to her parents and late husband, William "Bill" Shirley, Sue is preceded in death by five brothers, Harlan (Myrtle) Meeks, Horace Meeks, James R. "Bud" Meeks, Jerry R. Meeks, Sr., and Kenneth Meeks; and one sister, Elizabeth (Larry) Redifer. Sue is survived by two sons, Dan (Becky) McDonald, D.D of Scottsburg, Indiana and John (Laurie) McDonald of Fredricksburg, Virginia; two daughters, Tammy (Tom) Hall of Scottsburg and Angela Isom Lyons of Salem, Indiana; step daughter, Cammy Brewer of Hanover, Indiana brother, Timothy (Atlanta) Meeks of Scottsburg; one sister, Maedean Alpha of Scottsburg; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren with one on the way. Funeral for Sue on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with pastors Stan Carroll and Dan McDonald, D.D. Visitation Saturday prior to services 9:00 am to 12 noon at Collins Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. Online Condolences: www.collinsfuneralhome.net
