Shirley Ann Sharp, age 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away September 15, 2025. Born on December 4, 1936 to Marion and Bessie Katherine Bright Tungate, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Shirley was a proud graduate of Scottsburg High School, class of 1955, and later attended Sullivan Business College. She dedicated her life to serving others, with a diverse career that included working at Bennett's Print Shop, as a Medical Assistant for the Veterans Administration, and at the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant (Powder Plant). However, she is perhaps best remembered for her many years as a postal clerk, retiring from the Lexington, Indiana Post Office after years of devoted service to the communities of Nabb, Louisville and Lexington.

In her personal life, Shirley was passionate about many activities that brought her joy. She was an avid bowler, participating in various leagues, and enjoyed countless games of bridge with friends for over fifty years. Her love of dance found expression in square dancing, and she cherished time spent on her pontoon boat at Hardy Lake. Every Friday night, she could be found at Finley Firehouse, eagerly engaging in card games with friends and family.

Shirley is survived by her loving daughter, Sharon Richie of Jeffersonville, and her devoted son, Mark Sharp of Lexington, her cousin, Patty Lykins of Jeffersonville, her grandchildren, Wesley Allen Richie and his wife, Karen of Charlestown, Robert Sharp and Ariel Smith, and great-grandchildren, Eli and Lily Richie of Charlestown, all of whom will carry her joyful spirit forward in their lives. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Bessie Tungate and her husband, Robert Sharp,

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Scottsburg Cemetery. The family invites all those whose lives were touched by Shirley to gather in celebration of her life and share in the warmth of her memory.
