Wilma Jane (Stark) Wells, 98, a resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, on Thanksgiving Eve, at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Methuen, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Lowell on April 17, 1927, and was the daughter of the late William J. Stark and Gertrude E. (Wright) Shinkwin.
Wilma was a graduate of Billerica High School with the Class of 1946. She lived on Andover Road in Billerica when she married Paul E. Wells and had 4 children before moving to Chelmsford. Wilma later moved to Harwich, MA to care for her mother, Gertrude Shinkwin and stayed for 23 years. She returned to Chelmsford to be closer to her family. She lived life with an easy-going positive attitude and she was a special person to so many people. She will be missed by so many friends.
Wilma leaves her daughter Susan Wells and her husband Lee Murray of Amherst, NH, her daughter Linda (Wells) Bohannon and her husband Ron of Bokeelia, FL, and her son Steven Wells of Yorktown; her grandchildren, Jennifer Lewis and her husband Dan, Jessica Palmer and her husband Max, Lindsay Harris and her husband Peter Zimetbaum, all from Massachusetts and Kyle Russell and his wife Melody Makhfi of San Francisco, CA. Wilma is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Sadly, she was predeceased by her daughter Paula J. (Harris) Price, her grandson Zane Wells, and her sisters, Jeannette Smith and Margaret Rasmussen.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 9 am – 10 am at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10 am following the visitation. Interment in Fox Hill Cemetery, BILLERICA.
In lieu of flowers, Wilma has asked for donations to the Congregational Church of Harwich, where both she and her mother were members at firstchurchofharwich.org.
