Garland Nash "Wine-O" Wine, Sr, 82, of Rawley Springs, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024 at his home.
He was born on June 20, 1942 and was a son of the late Paul and Elton (Comer) Wine.
Garland had driven for Marvel Poultry, Wampler Longacre, Franklin Enterprises and JE Bazzle & Sons. He was a member of Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren, the Clover Hill Ruritan Club and Rockingham County 4-H.
Garland was united in marriage on December 26, 1978 to Judy (Stover) Wine, who survives.
Garland is survived by three children, Dawn Smith and husband, Donald, Dixie Stroop and husband, Rusty, and Garland "G.W." Wine, Jr. and wife, Fran; a brother, James Wine; sisters, Bonnie O'Roark, and Brenda Layman; four grandchildren, Dustin Smith and wife Sarina, Dana Smith, Carole Haywood and Brie Stroop; a special niece, Candy McNelis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Beverly Wine; step-mother, Lucy (Bynaker) Stroop Wine; brothers-in-law, Buddy O'Roark, and Harry Layman; sister-in-law Ruth Ann Wine.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Clover Hill Cemetery, and a memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM at Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren with Pastor Jack Glover officiating.
Friends may pay their respects from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clover Hill Fire & Rescue, 2100 Clover Hill Road, Dayton, VA 22821 or the Clover Hill Ruritan Club,.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to his care givers, Jessica McCann and Elysee Kyakimwa.
Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
