Obituary
Our dear mother, Winifred Bobula, known to her friends as "Sonny", and beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice Brozda (owners of the former Brozda's Pharmacy in East Pittsburgh), passed away on August 10, 2023 in her 100th year.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis Bobula, her son, Jeffrey Bobula and her grandson, Benjamin Goodman. She is survived by her children, Joel (Lais) Bobula, Jamie (Argelia) Bobula, Amy (Michael) Kelly and Marc (Robin) Bobula and a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Sonny was raised in East Pittsburgh and graduated from St. Thomas High School. She then enrolled in Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon) and graduated with a degree in Chemistry.
Sonny was an active member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. Her faith was very important to her and she was active in the church choir, Ladies of Charity and volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels until her 95th birthday. Sonny was an avid bridge player and bowler. She actually bowled a 200 game as an 89-year-old.
Sonny was a friend to everyone she met. We will miss her.
Friends are welcome on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350.
Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Fisher Church (St. Joseph the Worker Parish) on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Regis Ryan as the celebrant.
Sonny will be laid to rest in Good Shepherd Cemetery.
