Winifred Boggs died to this life on the morning of September 10 after bravely persevering through many years of failing health. Her life was hanging in the balance numerous times since her first cancer diagnosis in 1999.

Winifred was born and raised in New Your City, where she attended an art high school and later Pratt Institute. She then moved to northern California where she learned TM and continued to develop her talent as an artist. There she met and eventually lived for three years with a group of Trappist nuns . They remained dear friends for the rest of her life.

After TM teacher training she worked at the National Headquarters at 1015 Gayley Avenue in Westwood as assistant registrar of MIU in its earliest days in Isla Vista. It was during that time that her friendship with Steve Boggs blossomed into a romance. They married in 1974 and worked full time as TM teachers and later at residential facilities in New York, Massachusetts and California.

In 1983 Winifred and Steve moved to Fairfield where she resumed her painting career. She discovered a talent for painting abstract intuitive portraits of people.

At the time of her stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2003, when she was sure her days were numbered, she was inspired to write poetry and later published a book of poetry entitled Life Itself.

To all my friends and those who are not,

who have held me even in one glance,

I thank you for your face.

We cannot climb from the valley

floor except as one.

By grace she lived another 22 years informed by the life lesson to not take anything for granted. She cherished her friendships, where very little was ever left unsaid.
