Winston R. "Smokey" Rogers Funeral services for Mr. Winston R. "Smokey" Rogers, 79, of Marion, LA., will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Farmerville. Officiating will be Rev. Kurt Auger. Interment will follow at Roark Cemetery in Marion, LA., under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. Rogers was born on September 13, 1932 in Village AR., and passed away on July 15, 2012 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe, LA. He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. After graduation he was inducted into the army and served during the Korean War. In 1957 he went to work for Dowell –Schlumberger. He later became a salesman /consultant and accounts manager for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Booth and Ira Lynum Rogers, and three sisters, Athalene Booth, Martha Sue Roberson, and Marjorie Cheatum. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 28 years Jean Bowen Rogers, daughters, Tammy Rogers, and her mother Aletha Rogers of Little Rock, AR., Conni Bowen Futch of Marion, LA; Kim Bowen Mosley of West Monroe, LA; son, Keith Bowen of Monroe, LA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. There was nothing he liked better than cooking for the family and having a big gathering unless it was following any of the grandkids to one of their ballgames which he never missed. Pallbearers will be Glenn Aulds, Berle Winston, Jason Futch, Cade Bowen, Courtney Tanner, and Bucky Chandler. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.
