It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Worth Mason, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 16, 2025, at the age of 89. A proud resident of Blairsville, Georgia, Worth was born on February 8, 1936, and lived a life defined by devotion, dedication, and an enduring spirit.

A faithful member of the Providence Methodist Church, Worth grounded his life in Christian values, reflecting them in both his personal and community engagements. He was member of the Masonic Lodge for an impressive 65 years, embodying the virtues of brotherhood, integrity, and service.

Worth dedicated 42 years of his life to educating the young minds at the Georgia Academy for the Blind in industrial arts. With a heart for helping others, he led the Boy Scout Explorers, a special troop catering to blind children, guiding them on adventures of discovery and growth. He also found joy in coaching baseball and football, where his enthusiasm inspired countless youth in the community.

In his youth, Worth was active in the Future Farmers of America (FFA), where he gained recognition for raising and showing steers, a testament to his work ethic and commitment to agriculture. He was known as an extremely hard worker on the family farm and championed the value of a college education, inspiring many to pursue their dreams.

Worth was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Matthews Mason; parents Jewell G. Mason and Myrtle Everett Mason; uncles, Harlan Mason, Bill Mason; and aunt Donnie Young.

Worth's legacy will live on through his beloved family, including his daughter Anita Michelle (Edward) Mason Stewart, son Michael Worth (Colleen) Mason, sister Barbara Mason Poole, niece Stephanie Poole, and grandchildren Emma and Jewell Mason. An extended family of friends and community members will also carry forward his memory.

A funeral service to honor Worth's life will take place on March 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Providence Methodist Church in Blairsville, GA. Prior to this, family and friends are invited to share their condolences during a visitation at the Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home & Crematory Blairsville Chapel on March 18, 2025, starting at 6:00 PM. Interment will follow the funeral service at Providence Methodist Church Cemetery.
