Wynona Casey Obituary

Wynona Ann (Cates) Casey of Pleasant View, Utah, completed her earthly mission on October 10th, 2025, and was reunited with her beloved husband Donald Casey. She was 79 years old.

Wynona was born March 13, 1946 in Long Beach, California, to Helen Grubb and Ray Cates. She graduated from Mesa High School in Arizona, where she met her eternal companion Don. They were married on June 13th, 1964. They were later sealed in Laie, Hawaii LDS temple on August 4th, 1971. Together they raised 9 children. Wynona enjoyed a life supporting her kids in athletic and educational achievements, filling the home with the aroma of freshly baked goods, and playing card games with friends and family.

Early in their marriage, Wynona and Don moved to Punalu'u, Hawaii where they lived for nearly a decade. While there, she developed a love for Hawaiian culture and people. Her many hobbies included baking, croquet, and swimming. She worked as a swim instructor for many years in North Ogden, and was an assistant swim coach at Ben Lomond High School.

Early in her marriage, Wynona was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony of her savior, and shared it often. She served for many years in various callings in the church. Her favorite calling was compassionate service leader, where she facilitated the aid of many families during times of poor health, baby births, job loss, or other times of stress. Wynona believed in living a life of Christ-like service.

Wynona prioritized putting the needs of her many family members first. She made sure she knew the birthdays for each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends' birthdays, and always baked their favorite treat for them.

Wynona will be remembered for her thriftiness. In Wynona's eyes, there was no greater sin than paying full price for anything. Wynona was known for driving several miles past multiple grocery stores to go to a store that was holding a sale. For Wynona, it wasn't even about saving money, it was the principle of knowing you got the best price.

Wynona is survived by her siblings, Donald Lee Cates, Jeanie Kent, Montie Cates, and Shirley Estrada, her children Donald Conley Jr. (Jeanne), Alan Clark (Kathy), Coleena Lani Miller (Max), Christopher Keoni (Lucy), Mark Kekoa (Lily), David Nohea Nephi (Jennifer), Philip Alika (Jessica), Benjamin Enoka (Dawn), and Jared Moroni (Nicole), 48 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren (with 3 on the way). She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Casey, her parents Helen Grubb and Ray Cates, and siblings Forrest Ray Cates and Jacquelyn Helen (Cates) Hart.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Friday October 17, 2025 at the LDS chapel at 2975 N 1000 W, Pleasant View, UT, with a viewing prior from 10 - 11:40 am. Internment will follow at Ben Lomond Cemetery.
