Yan Yan Woo Chan
Resident of Pleasanton
Dec. 31, 1941 – May 28, 2023
Yan Yan Woo Chan passed away on Sunday after a brief illness, she was 81. During her life journey she touched many lives with her gentle spirit, positive outlook and caring heart. She faced many challenges in her lifetime, and was able to meet them with her indomitable courage and her strong faith.
Yan Yan was born on the last day of 1941 in Hong Kong during the most turbulent time of the city's history. After high school, she immediately joined the workforce to help support her large 12-members strong family. She married in 1962 and soon had a family of her own. In 1977, the family moved to the United States and settled in New York City. There she began a 20-years career with National Westminster Bank, which later became Fleet Bank, eventually rising to the position of Assistant Vice President. In 1998, she moved to Pleasanton to be closer to her children and her siblings around the Bay areas. She retired in 2003. She enjoyed travelling after her retirement, especially going on cruises. She got to see the world and thoroughly enjoyed the happiest times of her life.
Yan Yan is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Shiu; devoted children Eric of Ventura and Winifred of Redwood City and grandson Andy of Redwood City. She is also survived by her 9 younger siblings in the United States, Canada, and Hong Kong. Her generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Friday, June 2 at 10 a.m. at Oak Park Hills Chapel, 3111 N. Main St. at Walnut Creek. Cremation service to follow 2p.m. at 21228 Redwood Road, Castro Valley.
