Yolanda Michelle Buchanan was born July 11, 1977, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to the parents of Walter Dwayne Buchanan and Ruby Mae Baker-Buchanan. The Lord called her home on August 8th, 2025.

Yolanda accepted Christ at an early age at New Zion Baptist Church. She attended Muskogee public schools, where she dedicated herself to her studies and graduated with her high school diploma, a testament to her hard work and determination.

Yolanda was a homebody but when she was not at home she enjoyed fishing with the love of her life Willie and spending time with her family.

Yolanda enjoyed cooking, listening to music, dancing and playing on her phone.

Yolanda's favorite color was red, she LOVED Mexican food, her favorite flowers were red roses and her favorite music was Rap and R&B.

Yolanda leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, cherished by her three beloved children: DeAndre Ramone Buchanan, KaTera Michelle Buchanan, and Jasmine Michelle Buchanan. Her fierce devotion to her children was unmatched; no one could speak ill of them without facing her spirited defense and unwavering loyalty. Her laughter and warmth created a nurturing home filled with love and support. Her legacy will also be forever cherished by her parents: Walter D. Buchanan Sr. and Ruby Buchanan, who instilled in her the values of family and resilience. In addition to her parents, Yolanda is survived by her loving sisters, Shanale Baker and Ruby Buchanan, and her brothers, Dwayne Buchanan Jr., Kelvin Buchanan, and Bobby Buchanan; her beloved grandchildren: Iris and Kynsley Buchanan, affectionately known as "The Twins," DeAntre Buchanan, and Lamiyah Johnson; a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews: Shantrel Baker, NaCari Buchanan, Shakyra Smith, Ruth Washington, Adarya Shipp, Quantrel Baker, Marauell Maxwell, Cameron Buchanan, Brandon Buchanan, and Brayden Maxwell. Her love extended beyond her immediate family, as she formed deep connections with a host of cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
