We're so sad to say Yolanda Sandoval Vasquez passed away. She was a wonderful mom, sister, partner, grandmother and great grandma, and she passed peacefully with her daughter and loved ones around her on March 29th, 2025.
Yolanda was born August 9, 1958, in Corpus Christi, TX, to Erasmo and Maria Vasquez (both proceed in death). She had eight siblings: Maria Van Horn husband James, Lucia Schweizer, Sylvia Robinson, Elvira Chesser husband Tom, and David Vasquez wife Lynn. Sadly, three of her siblings and two of her sons also preceded her in death: San Janita Benavides, Manuel Vasquez, and Rosalinda Vasquez, her son David Peña, and her step son William Bivens.
She moved to Wichita Falls in 1997 where she fell in love with her beloved partner of 23 years Weldon Bivens. She had a daughter, Adrianna LaCue, husband Sean, and step daughter Naomi Bivens and step-son Wendell Bivens. She had three beautiful granddaughters Mila LaCue, Ivy Lacue, Lilli Bivens and five grandsons; Eric Taylor, Jacob Bivens wife Shelbie, Russell Farquhar, Conner Fowler, Cole Bivens. She also had two great grandchildren Rosalina Bivens and Cooper Bivens. Being a grandma made her so happy; she loved camping and cooking with her grandkids. Saturday nights were for sleepovers with her grandchildren, popcorn, and movies – a must! She was always so thoughtful with her gifts and made sure they had everything they needed.
For several years, she served as a nurses' aide at the state hospital in Corpus Christi. Her avocations included poetry, reading, and antique collecting. She also enjoyed her leisure time at the casino. Furthermore, she pursued psychology coursework at Del Mar College. She possessed a remarkable talent for storytelling, captivating audiences with anecdotes from her youth.
Yolanda was the cornerstone that held our family together. Her mentorship, cooking, dancing and laughter and hugs will be forever missed.
A memorial service is scheduled for April 10th, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Hospice of Wichita Falls, located at 4909 Johnson Rd, Wichita Falls, TX 76310. Dillard Family Meeting Center
