Meridith Funeral Home, P.C. - HighlandYoshiko Chitose Huddle, 93, of Highland, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Stillwater Senior Living Center, Edwardsville, IL.
She was born on December 27, 1931, in Kumamoto, Japan, to Genda Chitose and Natsuko Sasa Chitose. She was the third oldest of six children of a schoolteacher father and homemaker mother.
Yoshiko is survived by her six sons, Michael, Peter (Suzanne), Paul, Mark (Marie), David (Laura) and Daniel; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Maya, Zachariah, Matthew, Michio, Jeremiah and Mabry; siblings, Hiroko, Mizuyo and Kimiyo.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Troy Mabry Huddle in July 2020; as well as elder siblings, Akibumi (brother) and Reiko (sister).
Yoshiko grew up during the Great Depression in Southern Japan and survived World War II and its aftermath. She met and married her husband in Japan in 1963 while he was stationed in Tokyo with the US Air Force. They settled in St. Jacob, IL in 1975 following Troy’s Air Force career where Yoshiko focused on their boys' schooling, gardening and being an active member of Hope Lutheran Church, Highland, IL. Yoshiko loved to travel and experience new cultures and cuisines. She visited her children in Germany Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Thailand over the years and was always open to new things and new people – she loved to have a good time and enjoyed being entertained.

Visitation: Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
Service: Saturday, November 8, 2025, 11:00 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
Burial: Marine Cemetery, Marine, IL, next to her husband, immediately following the service.
