Yvonne Theresa (nee Roberts) Goodson was born on April 14 1958, to Raymond and Barbara Roberts.
Yvonne came into this world fighting as she was born 3 months prematurely at a time when preemies did not live for long. After 3 days, the doctors let her see her mother and father. She responded to the love of family, and she grew and thrived.
Yvonne and her family lived in Harlem until she was 5, then they moved to Staten Island. In 1971 the family moved to Co-op City in the Bronx. Yvonne loved Co-op City and the many friends she made there.
Yvonne graduated from Jersey City State College with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice as pre-law. After graduation she worked in the NYC District Attorney's office and for s short while for the FBI.
However, her love for humanity led her to go to Long Island University for her Master of Social Work degree.
Yvonne loved to work with the homeless. She worked in shelters for the City of New York, the City of Yonkers, the City of New Rochelle, in Barryville, NY and in Wayne County, PA.
Yvonne married Tomango Goodson on May 30th 1997, in Croton-on -the-Hudson, New York. Although the couple never had children, they shared a love for cats. Simon, Jo-Jo, Pepper, Job, and now Sarah and Abraham have shared Yvonne's love and garnered much affection from her over the years.
Yvonne was a member of the NYC Church of Christ and when she moved to Florida, the Jacksonville Church of Christ.
Yvonne is survived by Tomango Goodson her loving and devoted husband of 25 years, her siblings: Chyrise and her husband Kevin Taylor; Annette and her husband Herbert Allen (Al) Butler.
Her nieces and nephews: Alexandria and her husband George; Kevin and his partner Megan; Elizabeth Taylor; Jessica and her husband Adam.
Her grandnieces and nephews: Ethan, George, Jackson, Emery and Malcolm.
A memorial for Yvonne will be held on November 18th 2022, 3:30 PM-4:30 PM (ET) at Eternity Funeral Home and Crematory 4856 Oakdale Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Livestream invite: https://my.gather.app/remember/yvonne-goodson
