Yvonne Bryant Minor, 80, of Montross VA, passed away unexpectedly and yet peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday October 30th. She was born June 26, 1945 to the late John Dee Bryant and Addie Mae Bryant. She was married to the love of her life, James Durwood Minor for 50 years.
Yvonne graduated from W&L High School in 1964. Following high school, she worked at Bevans Oyster Company as Secretary and then went on to work at The Bank of Hague. She ended her working career at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division as a Financial Technician. Outside of work, she volunteered as the organist, Sunday School teacher, and long-time treasurer at Edgewater United Methodist Church of which she was a lifetime member. Yvonne was a beloved sister, and devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joy was being "Meemaw" to her grandkids and great grandson. She was very generous and gracious, and was considered a very kind friend by so many. Yvonne continued the family tradition of Sunday family meals that her mother Mae established. This time around table with family was the peak to her week and brought her so much joy.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents John Dee Bryant and Addie Mae Bryant Packet, Stepfather Frank Packett, and husband James Durwood Minor. She is survived by her siblings John Everett Bryant (Linda) and Janis Minor (Larry); sister-in-law Dorethia Minor; son James Rodney Minor (Becca); daughter Dawn Renee Green (Stephen); Grandchildren: Dakota E. N. Minor (Josiah Parker), Austin E. Minor, Ethan Z. Minor (Ayesha), JeyLynn M. Minor, and Judson Fisher Green; and Great Grandson Jackson J. Parker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Yvonne will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Carmel United Methodist Church in Kinsale. The Reverend Rebecca Minor, Yvonne's beloved daughter-in-law will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to Edgewater U.M.C. be made in Yvonne's loving memory. The mailing address is 7347 Jackson Drive, King George, VA 22485.
