Zachary Steele Obituary

Visit the Ingram Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Zachary Evan Steele tragically left this earth on July 22, 2025 at the age of 21. Zachary was a lifelong Forsyth County resident and a graduate of North Forsyth High school in 2022.

While Zachary was only 21, he accomplished more in that short span, than most do in a lifetime. He would go on to enlist into the Georgia Army National Guard in 2022. He would attend Army Basic Training at Fort Leonard-wood Missouri, where he would graduate in the top 10% of his peers. After completing basic training Zachary would go on to study at the University of North Georgia Dahlonega Campus. Zachary paused his Academics to reclass to Infantry, and deploy with the Georgia Army National Guard in 2024 to Kuwait. His service awards include an Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Overseas Service Medal, and a Georgia Army National Guard Recruiting Ribbon.

Zachary was born to Jason and Mary Steele on April 20, 2004 at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia. He was raised with his three siblings in Forsyth County. To say the “Steelebillies” were a tight bunch would be an understatement. Zachary loved God, his family and the military… in that order. He loved body building (and it showed), fishing, camping, country music, cowboy boots, motorcycles and exotic cars. He loved his baby nephew, pugs and Guba. He loved people and always wanted to make them laugh and smile. He had a huge heart for the under dog. He defended his family, his friends and his Country. He touched so many lives in such a short time.

He is survived by his parents Jason and Mary Steele, of Cumming, Georgia; his three siblings Christopher (Ashley) Steele of Murrayville, Georgia; Julia Steele of Cumming, Georgia; and Gregory Steele of Cumming, Georgia as well as Mary Grace Holden of Cumming, Georgia, the love of his life. Grandparents, Rebecca (Chuck) Dunn of Stockbridge, Georgia; Randy (Jane) Rape of Ellijay, Georgia; and Thomas (Toni) Medcalf of Panama City, Florida as well as many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Toby and Victoria Moore. We take comfort knowing they were there to welcome him into Heaven.

Zachary had stated in earlier conversations that if he ever died, he didn’t want people to be sad or to wear dark colors to his funeral. So we ask if you are attending his funeral to please keep it bright and lively just like his personality.

The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, July 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 991 Kilough Church Road; Dawsonville, GA 30534. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. The Burial Service will be on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Honeycreek Woodlands Cemetery, 2625 GA-212; Conyers, GA 30094.
