Zack Flanagan

Zechariah Melvin Flanagan, affectionately known as Zack, passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 45. Born on December 12, 1979, Zack was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend whose presence brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, North Carolina, on Saturday October 18th, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Zack was a skilled mason by trade, dedicating his life to building not only structures but also strong relationships with those around him. His work was a testament to his dedication and craftsmanship, leaving a lasting mark on the community he served. A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Zack could often be found cheering passionately for his team, sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family. He also enjoyed playing basketball, where his competitive spirit and love for the game shone brightly.

Zack was known for his infectious sense of humor and his ability to bring a smile to anyone's face. A true jokester, he had a knack for lightening the mood and making those around him feel at ease. His loving, caring, and protective nature made him a cherished brother and a friend you always wanted by your side.

He is survived by his sons, Marcus Isaiah Gulat and Jeremiah Javon "J.J." Gulat, and his daughter, Harmony Love. Zack's legacy lives on through them, as well as through his mother, Annie Louise Morgan and his siblings: brothers Duane Bell, Antione Flanagan, Samuel Flanagan, Peter Flanagan, Joshua Dorsey, John Flanagan, Daniel Flanagan, and David Morgan; and sisters Sarah Jefferson, Rebecca Flanagan, Deborah Morgan, and Melissa Morgan. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Marybeth Flanagan.

Zack's memory will forever be treasured by his family and friends, who will miss his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to their lives. He was truly someone you wanted to be around, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
