MSgt Bruce Vernon Richardson, Ret., aged 77, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina. Born on March 22, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, Bruce led a life dedicated to service, family, and community.

Bruce honorably served his country with distinction as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, retiring after a long and commendable career. His dedication to duty was further exemplified through his service as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Bruce's military career was marked by numerous awards and decorations, including the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam PUC, among many others.

Bruce enjoyed golf, and served in a managerial capacity at Awase Meadows Golf Course in Okinawa, Japan, where his passion for golf flourished. Upon returning to the United States, he applied his leadership skills in retail management, working with companies such as K-Mart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and Big Lots.

Bruce had a zest for life, finding joy in golfing, thrift shopping, and exploring yard sales. These hobbies brought him much happiness and allowed him to connect with many people over the years.

Preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Anna Friebus Richardson, and his sister, Carol Whitehouse, Bruce leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his loving wife of over 48 years, Susan Richardson, who resides in their home. His memory lives on through his children: daughters Anna Richardson Key and husband Jeff, Esther Richardson Argo and husband Jeremy, and son David Bruce Richardson and wife Kosha. His spirit will also be cherished by his brothers, Lester Richardson and wife Lenora, and Dennis Richardson and wife Joyce. Bruce was a proud grandfather to Eli, Andrew, Ellie, and Samantha, who will remember him fondly.

The family will have a service at Harvest Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville with pastor Jason Peterson officiating at 12:30PM on Wednesday, 10/08/2025, allowing friends and loved ones to gather together in remembrance of a life well-lived. Burial will follow at the Coastal Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery with military honors. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM, one hour prior to the service.

Rather than sending floral tributes, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bruce's honor to the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico here : https://www.tmcfunding.com/funds/fundraiser-for-the-marine-corps-museum-of-quantico/14490/.

Bruce Vernon Richardson will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. His steadfast dedication to his country, his work, and his family left an indelible mark on all those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing his legacy of love and service endures.
