Zenora Lorraine Gard

ZENORA LORRAINE GARD Zenora Lorraine Gard, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2025, at her home in Newton. She was born November 1, 1928, to Albert and Irma (Richert) Duerksen of Hillsboro, Kansas. She married Alvin E. Gard of Canton on August 5, 1949, at Alexanderwohl Church. He preceded her in death. She is survived by 2 daughters, Lori (Ken) Hein of Newton and Leda (Melvin) Graybill of Goessel; and a son, Mark, of Coffeyville, Kansas. Other survivors include 2 granddaughters, Adrienne (David) Close and Anitra (Damon) Johnston, both of Newton, as well as 6 great-grandchildren, Ben Close, Nathan Close, Alexandra Murray, Justice Murray, Dustin Johnston, and Hannah Johnston; 2 brothers, Dennis (Norma) Duerksen and Donley (Carol) Duerksen, both of Goessel. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Clareen Klassen and Joyce Unruh. The Homegoing Celebration will be held at First Baptist Church, 200 W. Sixth St. Newton, KS 67114, on March 23, 2025, at 2:00 pm. A private family burial was previously held on March 14, 2025, at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to either Samaritan's Purse or International Ministries and may be sent in the care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
