Zetta Mae (Matson) Casas, 94, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away on April 9, 2024, in North Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on January 20, 1930 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Zetta was known as a sweet lady to all who knew her. She had a deep love for animals and cared for countless squirrels, possums, birds, and stray cats, many whom became cherished members of her household family. Her weekends were often filled with family dinners by the backyard pool, where love and laughter abounded. She loved to dance, from the Jitterbug of her younger days to two stepping with the love of her life, Tony, at General's Inn and the American Legion Post 21.
Zetta had a career as a waitress throughout her life's travels as well as a hat check girl at the Muehlebach hotel before becoming a homemaker to care for her family full time. Her dedication and hard work endeared her to many.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Dale) Prewitt and Linda Simon, son Tony (Robin) Casas Jr, stepdaughter Carmen (Mike) Jones, brother Philip (Donna) Sharp, grandchildren Lisa (Jack) Arena, Rena (Bo Stakley) Newlin, Ryan Prewitt, Andrea (Jack) Wagner, Alberto (Christina Morgan) Arrieta, Anthony Casas, Marisa (Kodiak Keen) Casas, many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Zetta was preceded in death by husband Tony Casas, her father Walter Matson, mother Tula Sharp, stepfather Perry Sharp, brothers Walter Matson Jr, Edward Matson, sisters Bonnie Terry, Kay Lee, and stepdaughters Priscilla Close and Marie Kuklinski.
