Zoe Elizabeth Anne Earlywine was born on May 25, 2007 in Tacoma, WA and lived her whole life in Olympia, WA with her father, mother and older brother
.
Zoe headed off to her next adventure on September 25, 2024 after 17 years of surprising everyone and making more than her fair share of delight and mischief.
Zoe's life was bookended by brain cancer, but in between she did so much living. She endured an intense treatment regimen for a rare form of brain cancer as an infant. Zoe survived the odds and forged a thriving life under her own terms. Cancer had a tremendous impact on her body and development, but she never knew to fear it and just went on doing what she wanted regardless. Social norms and rules held no sway over her, mischief and shenanigans were her love languages, and she lived exuberantly according to her own rhythms and routines. Her adoring family and loved ones had no other option but to oblige and accommodate. Zoe was the epitome of strength, resilience, adaptability, cleverness, determination, insistence and persistence. She was the fiercest self-advocate we've ever met.
Zoe was diagnosed last year with a secondary high grade glioma. This cancer was not curable, and Zoe spent her last year of life going on adventures and enjoying all her favorite people, places, and things. She passed peacefully at home, in her favorite bed with her family close by.
Zoe is survived by the biggest family of loved ones, friends and fans that a person could ever hope to have around them. These include her mother, Mette Earlywine (née Sundvor), father Jonathan "JC" Earlywine, older brother Jacob Earlywine, grandmother Cindy Potter, grandfather Duane Earlywine, step grandmother Ingrid Sundvor, aunties Rachel Earlywine, Mary Hodge (Nathan Hodge), Jamie Everhart (Christian Ceja), and Camilla Sundvor, uncle Kevin Everhart (Ashley Everhart), and cousins Anna Earlywine, Caleb and Camden Hodge, Jaxson Bergandi and Rio Ceja Everhart, and Claire and Peter Everhart.
Zoe is preceded in death by her grandmother Nancy Earlywine and grandfather Trond Sundvor.
We also want to gratefully acknowledge the extended family, close friends, colleagues, health care providers, teachers, child care providers and caregivers who helped Zoe and her family navigate the challenges of brain cancer and disability and supported us as we learned the joys of accommodation, acceptance and profound love. It is a long list of good people who held Zoe and her family, and she and we were blessed beyond measure to be surrounded in such love.
All of us are forever lucky for the time we got to spend with the funniest rascal and absolute queen of shenanigans, our favorite girl in the whole wide world.
