It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Robert Carpenter on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the age of 63.
Gary was born in Scranton, on Dec. 29, 1958, a son of Robert and Norine Carpenter.
In his youth, Gary was active in Boy Scouts and later became an Eagle Scout. Within Boy Scouts, he found his passion for skiing and enjoyment in dirt car racing. He worked on family farms including Pallman's Poultry and Landsiedel's, where he enjoyed tending to the gardens and always offering a helping hand.
Gary graduated from Tunkhannock Area High School with the class of 1976. Shortly following, Gary began working at Procter and Gamble where he served 25 years. While employed at P&G, he met Kimberly Carpenter, his future wife and the mother of their three daughters. On Aug. 1, 1987, he married Kimberly in the Alderson United Methodist Church surrounded by their loving families.
Together they built a life and happy home where they would host many gatherings with friends and family. They spent much of their time building the property around their home including many gardens, orchards, and food plots. Gary and Kimberly raised two daughters: Kami and Keegan, and created their childhood with love, adventure, and continued experiences to learn. He enjoyed so much with them including his love of the outdoors and traveling. Gary and Kimberly were blessed to have spent 34 years of marriage together.
Throughout his life, Gary enjoyed dirt car racing, skiing within the states and Switzerland, watching many sports (New York Yankees, Miami Dolphins, Duke, Penn State, and NASCAR). He also enjoyed and spent much time outdoors. Gary was actively involved in fishing, hunting, sharing this passion with friends and family- fly fishing in the creek, spending time on the river or taking trips to Canada.
In addition to his wife, Kimberly, Gary is survived by his daughters: Kami Carpenter and significant other Daniel Oakes, and Keegan Thomas and her husband Luke Thomas; his father, Robert Carpenter and wife Rose; brother, Kevin Carpenter and his wife Melissa; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dorine and Caren White; he is also carried in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews on both sides of his family.
Gary was predeceased by his mother, Norine Carpenter; infant daughter, Kelsey Carpenter; and nephew, Randy Zacharias.
We will forever cherish the time spent with Gary and continue to walk each day with the legacy he left behind.
