Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2011, at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Victor Gournas officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
George leaves behind his loving wife, Judith "Judy" K. Gurley; stepson, Bryan Scott Gurley and wife Joy of Wilmington, NC; stepdaughter, Karen Gurley Etter and husband Mike of Effingham, IL; brothers, Robert Ward and wife Doris of Findley, OH and Ted Ward and wife Irene of San Diego, CA. He also leaves, to cherish his memory, his grandchildren, Jordan Gurley of Wilmington, NC, Julie Hibson and husband James of Gainesville, VA, Chris Etter of Effingham, IL, and Dan Willis and wife Jill of Edwardsville, IL; and a great- grandson, Aiden Willis.
