Lewis Metts Obituary

PROSPERITY -Lewis Pinner Metts, 85, died Friday, September 9, 2016, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on November 3, 1930, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Tom and Annie Cook Metts. Mr. Metts was a Air Force veteran of the Korean War and retired from Kline Steel. He was a member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. He was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Marler Metts; step-son, Ronnie (Helen) Marler of Laurens; a sister, Merite M. (Barney) Piester of Newberry; a brother, Claude P. (Christine) Metts of Columbia and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Roy William Metts.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2016, at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Floyd Sides. Burial followed in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church, 3074 Bachman Chapel Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers were Ronnie Kinard and members of the Newberry Shrine Club.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Newberry Shrine Club and the Adult Sunday School Class of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church.
