BOILING SPRINGS, SC — Ruby Louise Pugh Connelly, 86, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Born December 12, 1928, in the O'Neal Community of Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late Alden F. and Pearl Lominack Pugh.
A graduate of Newberry College, Mrs. Connelly taught in South Carolina public schools for 31 years. She was dedicated to her church, St. John's Lutheran, where she actively participated in the Chancel Choir, Circle One, and Senior Adult activities.
In supporting her advocacy for public education, she held memberships in NEA, SCEA, and the Spartanburg County Education Association. She was the charter president of the Spartanburg Chapter of SC Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority for Women Educators. She was also a former member of the Kate Barry Chapter of DAR.
Mrs. Connelly is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Nelson B. Connelly; son, Bennett Connelly (Pam); daughters, Donna Bolt and Joette Johnson (Keith); her grandchildren, Laura Bolt Brooks (Douglas), Andrew Johnson (Tara), Joseph Johnson, Evan Connelly, and Rachel Connelly Fowler (Brandon); and great-grandchildren, Ruby Johnson and Cole Johnson. She was predeceased by her siblings, A. F. Pugh, Jr. and Kitty Pugh Usher.
Visitation will be 2-2:45 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the church, conducted by the Rev. Emily Edenfield and the Rev. Mike Shackleford. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or the SC Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd. Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.

We were so sorry to learn of Mrs. Connelly's death and wish that we could have been here for the services, but we were out of the country. Both Mr. And Mrs. Connelly have been very special to the Hendrix family for many, many years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
