Werner Pfaff
Werner Pfaff, 93, of Sherman, CT, passed away on November 2, 2017 with his son and daughter at his side. Werner was born on June 28, 1924 in Monchweiler, Germany. He came to this country with his parents, the late Ernst and Frida (Storz) Pfaff at 3 years old.
Werner grew up in Queens and attended New York Technical High School and RCA Institute. Following his graduation, Werner served in the Army from 1943-1945 in the South Pacific. Werner received several awards. They are the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Bronze star, the World War II Victory Medal and the Honorable Service Lapel Button, World War II. Werner was a member of the New Fairfield Veterans Association for many years. He was also a member of the Danbury Elks and the Sherman Senior Center. He was known to many as Wally. He loved going to the Sherman Senior Center with his wife, Elisabeth for birthday parties and special events. Everyone loved his sense of humor.
On April 8, 1954, Werner married his wife, Elisabeth on the NBC television show, Bride and Groom. In 1956, Werner and Elisabeth started building their present house in Sherman, CT, together on weekends.
Upon returning from serving our country, Werner worked at several companies in the Refrigeration Industry and retired from Maxwell House Coffee, Hoboken, NJ in 1986 after 17 years of employment. He lived in Ridgewood, Queens until 1969 when he moved with his family to Sherman.
For the past 63 years, he was the husband of Elisabeth, the love of his life. Werner is survived by his son, Gary Pfaff, who followed in his footsteps and also served his country as a Persian Gulf War veteran. In addition, he is survived by Gary's partner Channon Elzea, his daughter, Loraine Seder and husband, Edward Seder. He is survived by his 3 grandchildren, Elisabeth L. Pfaff, Kenneth Seder and his wife, Kristalynn, Jennifer Cundiff and her husband, Rev. Joel Cundiff.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Jeffrey Tyler.
The family will receive friends at Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT, on Tuesday Nov. 7, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday Nov. 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. followed by the interment at Coburn Cemetery in Sherman, CT, with full military honors.
