URBANA – C. Kent Clark, 85, of Urbana passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Kent was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Chrisman, a son of the late Ernest and Pauline Clark of Paris, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy, who died on Monday, Jan. 28, 2008. A joint memorial service was held on Friday evening. Graveside services for both Kent and Dorothy were held on Saturday, Feb. 2, in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.
They are survived by four children, Brian Clark of Fort Mill, S.C., Barbara Lee of Chester, Vs., Richard Clark of Mahomet and David Clark of Fort Worth, Texas; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Kent served with the U.S. Army 882 Airborne Engineers in the Pacific during World War II, earning bronze campaign stars for campaigns in the Ryukyus, the Philippines, and New Guinea. He graduated from Eastern Illinois Teachers College in 1947. After graduation he moved to Virginia to teach high school math and industrial arts. Later he moved into school administration at the county and state level. Kent and Dorothy enjoyed a long retirement in Florida prior to moving to Urbana in October 2006. Kent enjoyed golf, fishing, woodworking, and travel.
