PESOTUM - Jean Clapp, 72, of Pesotum, passed away at 6:32 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at the funeral home.
Born on Oct. 2, 1951, in Burnham Hospital, Champaign, to Wilbur and Alta Clark, she had 10 brothers and sisters, of which six preceded her in death: Phyllis (Clark) Seibert, Hank Clark, William Clark, Bess (Clark) Rodgers, Donald (Butch) Clark and Keith Clark.
Surviving siblings are Mary (Clark) Foley, Nancy (Clark) Rodgers, Wilbur Clark and Rich Clark. Her parents, Wilbur Clark and Alta Clark preceded her in death.
She married Roger Clapp on March 5, 1971, and cherished her life with him. They have two daughters, Jennifer (Clapp) Trimble and Sarah (Anthony) Figueroa, as well as three grandchildren, Jackson Trimble, Eliana Figueroa and Amare Figueroa.
Jean spent her entire career working for CIPS/Ameren until she retired in 2009. Jean was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and was a loyal follower of University of Illinois sports. She loved attending her daughters' sporting events when they were growing up. She loved baking for her family and made the best chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles and homemade ice cream. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she really enjoyed decorating with her family. Jean will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who will be deeply missed.
