William Stone Obituary

PHILO - William "Bill" E. Stone Jr., loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday (March 19, 2024) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Bill was born to William "Rocky" and Wanda (Wells) Stone on March 20, 1952, in Urbana. He married Anna Schweighart on March 13, 2010, in Philo.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Anna Stone; three children, Wes (Morgan) Stone, Samantha (Randy) Pettry and Hannah Stone; four stepchildren, Nik Hooker, Linnsey Hooker, Caley (Bryce) Compton and Kyle (Kaitlyn) Kalk; four grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; one sister, Linda Lyons; and one niece, Kristie (Nathan) Hart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Rocky" and Wanda Stone.

Bill adored his family more than anything, never missing a game and making sure he was part of every special moment. Bill was absolutely his kids' and grandkids' No. 1 fans! He had a passion for golf, traveling, gardening (tending to 100 indoor plants to be exact!), a love for animals, and he was hands down the No. 1 Cubbies fan!

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 25, at Joines Funeral Home, Villa Grove, with the memorial service to immediately follow, where family friend and former Pastor Mike Picklesimer will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to ACS Hope Lodge and mailed to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108, or by going online to raiseyourway.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donate.event&eventID=583.

Rest in peace, Bill (Dad), your love and memories will live on forever.

Bill was my brother in law several years ago. His Sister, Linda was married to my brother, Steve Hodges. He was a great guy, always happy. He was a true family man and friend to many. He will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to all who knew and loved him.
