Joseph E. Mucciarone

Joseph E. Mucciarone, age 84, passed away January 2, 2024, in Mentor, Ohio. He was born September 18, 1939, in Painesville to John A. and Armeda Donna (Bertone) Mucciarone.Joseph served in the United States Army 308th Engineer Battalion from 1957-1959. He is a proud Harvey High School graduate from the Class of 1957. He received his Bachelor of Education in 1965 at Kent State; and in 1977, received his Master of Administration from Cleveland State University.Mr. Mucciarone worked for 33 years in the Painesville City Schools before retiring in 1998 as Superintendent. He was a respected pillar of the Painesville community. Joseph was a member of St. Bede's Catholic Church in Mentor and St. Mary's Painesville. He was also a member of Elks Lodge #549 in Painesville. He enjoyed playing the accordion, dancing, playing golf, working on home repair projects, and taking care of his yard.Joseph is survived by his wife of 30 years, Beverly B. (Maraney) Mucciarone; daughter, Amanda (Scott) Smith; sons, Joseph (Sharon) Mucciarone and Andrew Mucciarone; stepsons Dan (Patti) and Rick (Nancy Gabrenya) Bumgardner. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lia, Jenna, and Jill Smith; Anthony and Matthew Mucciarone; Isabella and Joe Mucciarone; and Kelsey and Brendan Bumgardner, as well as nephews John and Michael Mucciarone; and former wife Sharon Fitzgerald.He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Mary Mucciarone.Friends will be received 2:00 â€" 4:00 PM, Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Monday January 8th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
