Dear Kent Family, I was a medical student with Dr Kent 20 years ago. I just learned of his passing. I recall how welcoming he was to me and I learned much from his expertise. I'm sorry to hear of this loss and grateful that I had the opportunity to learn from him.

It has been a while since I came to this site, and I am deeply moved to see people continuing to leave such loving and thoughtful remembrances of my brother.

At Chris's memorial, which feels like both a lifetime ago and just yesterday, I concluded my eulogy by saying "Even in his absence, he will always remain a constant in our lives." I couldn't have known then just how true those words were for so many. In Gratitude and Love, thank you all so very much.

Every year goes by and the wound of your departure is still fresh. In my new career path, I still share stories of Super Kent and how you were so much more than just your job. I miss you blasting music from your office, your college stories, your proud dad moments of your daughters and your jokes. Thank you for leaving those who loved and cared for you with memories that will last a lifetime. You are dearly missed.

I´m so sorry for the family to hear this. The Dr helped us with my mother when she started having balancing then memory issues. Later he diagnosed her with Dementia. He was very good to my Mom and I´ll always appreciate that. I was very saddened to hear that he had passed away and so young.

Chris was a good friend of mine at Colgate. I remember him as a funny, caring, kind and brilliant person. I feel fortunate to have known him.
He clearly cherished his beautiful family! I can imagine how awful it felt to lose such a wonderful person, husband and father, as we lost our son at age 24 in 2021. I found out about Chris' passing when I tried to contact him to tell him about our Max. I was deeply saddened to learn that he had passed, and I hope the family has found comfort in all of the love and appreciation from those whose lives he touched and saved!

Thank you so much Jerry. It always means the world to me when others still remember Chris so dearly. The girls and I think and talk about him all of the time. I´m sure he is looking down and incredibly proud of how they have grown into such lovely young women. They certainly have his intelligence, wit, caring, and charm. I miss him deeply but feel extremely blessed. Wishing you the best.

Here it is 2024 and I still miss my doctor Christopher Kent very much. He saved my life back in 2017. I remember his passing and still wish he was here. I think of Connie and his kids often. I met them at his memorial service. I live in NC now and actually had a doctor who did his residency with Dr Kent in San Diego naval base. His name is DR Charles Kuzman I told him of Dr Kent and what brought it up was he has the same picture as Dr Kent did of the naval base. Small world we live in. But his memories are being kept alive and he touched and healed a lot of people and for that we are greatful. R.I.P. my doctor and friend until meet again. Sincerely Jerry Nelson.

So many people loved, trusted and remember Dr. Kent! I can see where that brings much comfort to his family. Almost 8 years ago I came to Ormond Beach to live with my in laws, and through their family doctor I was referred to Dr. Kent. We lived in a multilevel townhouse in Illinois at the time and it would have been hard for me to recover from surgery. Plus I did not trust any doctors that we visited there. Actually I was scared to death to have back surgery. I never had surgery before. As soon as I met Dr. Kent and he told me to either fix the disc or keep living in pain, I decided to go forward with it. Of course I had to wait in line and he was also going on vacation. But finally the day came and all went well. Walked without pain right after and spent one night in hospital (to make sure no infection). All I needed was Tylenol and i was back to my own self. Recovered for ca. 3 weeks in Florida. Saw his assistant doctor for follow up and he wanted to have one with Dr.Kent a few weeks later, but I said I was going home! Did another follow up in Virginia instead. (Illinois was just temporarily due to job). I flew home and was never so happy to see our house in Virginia after being away for over 5 months. 2 1/2 months of that in Florida. So grateful to my in laws for taking care of me and Dr. Kent for giving me my life back! God leads in mysterious ways. Best wishes from the Shenandoah Valley.
P.S. Sorry for the long story.

I am heart broken over the loss of Chris. He was a wonderful person with tremendous empathy and caring for his patients. A talented neurosurgeon, he took every patient loss or less than prefect result as a personal failure. He was so sensitive that at times he seemed to grieve or feel quilty about events that were absolutely none of his doing. He was a sensitive man who prided himself on his strength but suffered at times from being too human. He was a friend, a wonderful physician and surgeon, talented, honest, and always loyal to his friends. His loss will be felt widely and I personally will mis his smile, good cheer, and friendship.

It was a privilege to know Chris as a wonderful and talented resident, careful, enthusiastic, and always willing to do more. After completion of his training he became a friend and a colleague who always put his patients' care first and was known for his superior character and honesty. His death is a loss to all who knew him, especially for the family that made him so proud.

I just read about Chris's passing in my college alumni magazine, and I am so utterly saddened by this news. Chris was a person who always had the innate ability to make you smile, even when it was the last thing you wanted to do. He was a loyal friend to me, kind and generous and so much fun to be around. I had the good fortune of reconnecting with Chris on facebook a few years back, and his love for Connie and his girls was palpable in every post. That love will not fade... nor will Chris's powerful impact on everyone lucky enough to have called him friend, or doctor. Sending my heartfelt sympathy to his family and dear friends.

I just heard of Dr. Kents death. He helped my family with an open and calm kindness. Not often so you hear of a MD who reaches out during an airplane flight to help a family find a diagnosis. Dr. Kent quickly diagnosed a brain tumor when local neurologist and Mayo Clinic MN failed. My heart breaks for his family and those he may have saved.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Kent's sudden passing. To me, he was a highly skilled and caring neurosurgeon, who completed a flawless surgery on my back. During his brief stay on earth, he made this planet a better place for us all.

I was so saddened to see Dr. Kent's obituary! Actually, I could not believe it. On August 27th, 2015, he fixed my badly herniated disc, which was pushing on my sciatic nerve. I could not walk very far anymore and it was very painful. This was my first surgery ever (I was 56 1/2 years old) and scared to death. I put my trust in God and Dr. Kent. And he did a wonderful job and I walked without pain right after the procedure. My husband called it a miracle, and it was. He gave me my life back, physically and mentally. So far I have been doing great and of course I don't lift anything too heavy anymore. I only met him 3 times, but he will always be one of my heroes ♂ I am so very sorry for his family's loss and am sending my heartfelt condolences. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, a forever grateful patient.

Dr Kent performed two surgeries on my husband last year. Each time we came away from his doctor visits thanking him for his wonderful expertise and care. He was gifted in ability, in communication and in personality. We are heartbroken for his wife and children and the profound loss they are experiencing. For his staff, it must be so difficult to go in to work knowing his office will not be filled by him and to have to explain to wondering patients, so painful. May God comfort each and every family member, friend and co-worker. Thankful that DrKent is resting in the arms of a loving God.

Like many others I was very saddened when Dr Kent relocated to Florida from Lincoln. He was missed by the entire community. I just learned of his sudden passing today and want to express my sympathy to his family.I had the pleasure of helping him overcome a skiing injury to his shoulder several years ago.He was an amazingly talented individual and very kind to all he met .May God comfort you like only he can during this difficult time.

June 4, 2019

Both my husband and I received warm, and wonderful care from Dr. Kent. Both with neck surgeries about 3 years apart and he loved teasing us "that just because we had been married 50 years didn't mean you have to copy each other". He will be greatly missed by all of us who were touched by his gentle and caring hands in helping us. We only heard of this today, the 4th of June and are deeply saddened by the passing of this brilliant and caring doctor...John and Sharon Phelps, Ormond Beach

Words cannot express how saddened I am to hear about the passing of Chris. I just heard the other night. My heart goes out to all of you at this very difficult time. I feel fortunate to have known this brilliant, funny, talented man. So many wonderful memories come to mind when I think of your family. Chris was a special man that touched so many lives. Our condolences go out to the girls and Connie. I had the pleasure to work with Dr. Kent and to consider him a friend. I remember one day when the girls were small they were running around the office and one of them had a skull model in her hand talking with it, she had the enthusiasm of her dad. He was so happy to have them there and for everyone to meet them.
He was a friend when Dave's brother was diagnosed with his brain tumor and kept in touch when he passed.
He loved his family, his music, his sports and good wine.
He was highly respected in Lincoln and I was once told by another physician that if they needed a Neurosurgeon, Dr. Kent is who they would want to be treating them.
He will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I just found out about Chris's passing last night and I can't begin to express the sadness. Chris and Connie were great friends that moved in across the street years ago in Lincoln and it was the start of a wonderful friendship. Chris was one of the smartest, funniest, and loyal to his friends men I have ever known. From his love of music to his learned love of Nebraska football I will miss him greatly. Even though Chris and I had not spoken for a while I always knew I could reach out to him if I needed him. He was one of my touchstones in life. Chris you always had my back and I will miss you greatly.

I had the opportunity to work with Dr.Kent here in Florida. He was a well respected physician and individual. He was kind, intelligent and approachable-never hesitating to answer any questions our therapists had.I was amazed to find out he grew up in Long Island-less than 30 minutes from me because I have such a recognizable New York accent and he didnt have any.He told me and my coworkers that his Mom thought it was better that way.But he showed us,after saying he was originally from Brooklyn, that he could conjure up a pretty awesome New York accent in a heartbeat! We all had a good laugh. His memorial service was a loving and emotional tribute and deservingly so.He will be greatly missed.Prayers are with his family.May God hold him close in his care

I grew up with Chris as his next door neighbor. We spent many hours together as children and kept in touch in our early teen and young adult years. Chris was always concerned about creatures great and small. When he accidentally stepped on a toad and killed it, he was beside himself with grief. It did not surprise me that he became a medical professional and reading the wonderful tributes, I can see he was beloved by his coworkers and patients. I am very sad for his loss to his friends, family, coworkers and all the patients he might have helped in the future. My heart goes out to Melanie, Connie and his children.

No words can describe the sadness I feel in the passing of Chris. Our whole group of friends from Medical school will miss him desperately. Chris was always the one person so full of life. His vigor was contagious. I will never, ever forget all our nights just hanging out and re-eating chicken wings as the Distillery or trying to drink all the bad Gennesee beer that we had. He was so passionate about all he did, so wonderful to be around all the time. He was always the first one to pick you up if you were down, both physically and emotionally. We called him Butthead because he was always so amused by life and saw all the humor in everything. You will be missed my friend, R.I.P., Butthead!

Dr. Kent was an amazing surgeon and a wonderful man. I enjoyed working with him. He also had a love for music of all kinds. One day, after all the patients had gone, he was in his office and cranked up the Bee Gees. I worked in the business office at that time which was just down the hall. One of the other ladies in the office got up and shut the door. A moment later, Dr Kent opened the door and said with a big smile, "You can't shut the door on the Bee Gees!" I laughed and agreed with him. To this day whenever I hear the Bee Gees I think of him. Rest in peace Dr Kent. My condolences to the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this very difficult time.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DR. CHRISTOPHER SUTTON KENT

Today we honor your memory
And your expertise as well
And the time you shared with all of us
In surgery where we dwell

For those of us who knew you
And worked closely by your side
We realized your love of surgery
And you performed it with great pride

We were your "SECOND' family
We worked hard and then took call
But even during the stressful days
We gave it our all and all

Like any other family
We had to learn to trust
But we always put the patient first
And gave them the "BEST" of us

You helped numerous people
And brought smiles to many faces
You accepted the "surgery challenge"
And made a difference with your patients

So, on this sad occasion
That brought us all together
We celebrate the "GOOD" in you
And the things that made you "BETTER"

To your sweet and loving family
Who mourns you on this day
Hold on to the "BEST" memories
And don't forget to pray

He was a husband, a father, a son
He was a mentor and a boss
I'll keep you in my prayers
For I'm sorry for your loss

He had a "GREAT" sense of humor
And I'm sure you know it too
He bragged about his family
And loved EVERY one of you

So, always remember the good times
And NEVER forget his name
I wish I could reach inside you
To remove your hurt and pain

The coming days will be hard
No matter what you do
May you find comfort in knowing
That others are grieving with you

I realize that you're mourning
And you're under a lot of stress
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy
And may you ALL be eternally blessed!!!!

With All My Love,

Qiana Menyon Jones, CST (Advent Health Daytona)

My Dad was one of Dr. Kent's first Gamma Knife patients in Lincoln. I appreciated the kindness and integrity that Dr. Kent showed my Dad and family during his cancer treatment. I am sorry for your loss and thinking of your family during this time.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work for and with him at the office here in Lincoln, NE. He was a wonderful doctor and will be missed by all that knew him.

My condolences to all of his family and friends
at this time; my thoughts and prayers will continue for you.

Dr. Kent will forever be remembered and honored by myself and my family. He prolonged my father's life after fighting cancer for over 10 years by removing a brain tumor that was going to kill him. He was a good man and passionate about his patients. The medical world will miss him tremendously! Thank you Dr. Kent for all you have done and the many lives you have saved and made a difference in. My condolences to his family.

Chris and I met in 8th grade at Weber Jr. High in Port Washington in 1976. We were 13 at that time. I had just moved to the area from Queens. Chris was one of my first new friends. We played soccer together and later wrestled. What Chris lacked in talent on the field and on the mat, he made up for in grit. Though Chris and I infrequently crossed paths after high school, I did occasionally run into him and was able to keep up with what was going on in his life through my mother in law, Lee. Chris' mother, Sue, and Lee were next door neighbors and best of friends until Sue (Chris' mom) passed. I was so impressed at Chris' progression through medical school, the Navy, and ultimately to the upper ranks of prominent neurosurgeons. I am so sad to learn of his sudden and early passing. My deepest condolences to his family.

I knew Chris in Med school and got reacquainted with him in recent years primarily through facebook. He was an amazing person.
He was a superbly trained surgical subspecialist who saved people's lives. He had a piercing intellect, and was widely read; we had discussions about quantum physics and the stoic philosophers.
Truly a unique person, the world is much lessened without him. I am so saddened by his passing and extend my deepest sympathies to his wife and children, his family and all his friends who will miss him so much.
