Gloria Marcotte Obituary

Gloria A. Marcotte or "Glo" as her friends called her, we call her Mom, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sept. 16, 2013. She was 86 years old, or as she would tell you; "I'm 21 times 2". If you had the pleasure of knowing her then you know, she really was 21 times 2 in heart, spirit, vitality and love of life. She was always up and ready to go, go, go. She especially loved being with family and friends. That was her life and she lived it well. One of her favorite sayings was "I'm full of piss and vinegar". That was her way of saying, "I feel good enough to take on the world". And she did take on the world when our Father died in 1969, leaving her to raise three boys by herlelf. She had her hands full, but years later when we were all adults, she would tell us, raising her boys was the highlight of her life. Mom lived and worked in the Greater Daytona Beach area for the past 50 years. Working as a waitress in the early years for such places as The Tropics and Julian's. Then in the 70's she managed The Beef & Bottle, Pump House East and King Arthur's Round Table on top of Pecks Plaza. In the 80's she work for the Dog Track traveling from Daytona to Ft. Lauderdale. Her last job of eight years had her running Carmichael's Pub on ISB for Michael Dan. When Carmichaels closed; at the age of 65, she retired. Way too early for her and the "Glo" within. She worked hard her whole life but never complained. She was honest, loving, careing, generous and proud. She would give you the shirt off her back or her last dollar. She was our best friend, our refuge, our safety net and the best place to seek advice. Most of all, if the world was against you, Mom was by your side. Mom, as long as we breath, we will honor the love you gave us and cherish all the wonderful memories of you throughout our lives. We love you more than life itself...... Services will be private and online, so please go to the memorial website, leave a sentament in the guest book or upload a picture. http://memorialwebsites.legacy.com/GloriaMarcotte/homepage.aspx. Already in Heaven: Husband Roy, son Michael, twin brother Lenny, brother Pal, sisters Margaret, Hellen & Kay. Still here to mourn: Her sons, Chris & Greg (Alma), Sister Rose, Nieces: Barb, Donna, Maggie, & Lindy. Grandchildren: Lindsey, Casey, Zach, Kaylan & Adam, plus many more family and friends. Also, one special angel, Barb Worthing. You all enriched her life and ours too. Rest in peace Mom and may the "Glo" be with us forever.

Aunt Glo and I had a lot of fun times. We went dancing at clubs, out for lunches and dinner, celebrated family birthdays and holidays. I will miss her a lot,she made me feel special and she was on my side when something or someone upset me. I am grateful that she was apart of my life. The first time I experienced that I was about 5 yrs. old. I was being punished for leaving the yard without telling my dad, Gloria's twin. The punishment was not going to the circus. I was having a major melt down about missing the circus. Aunt Glo took pity on me,and she convinced my dad that they would both take me to the circus. I never forgot and have loved her ever since. In our hearts and mind you will forever shine on.
