Ramona McGuffee Scrutchins

Ramona McGuffee Scrutchins Ramona McGuffee Scrutchins passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loving family members on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022. Ramona was born on December 17th 1952 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Mickey and Carole Lipe. She graduated from Shawnee High School and attended University at both Oklahoma Baptist University and St. Gregory's College. She completed her undergraduate degree later in life and was named Valedictorian of her class at St. Gregory's. She retired from the GIbson, Reynolds and Blakemore CPA firm after a long career in accounting. Ramona married Arthur Scrutchins on March 13th, 2004 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. A favorite vacation place they regularly visited. Ramona was an avid reader who loved live music events, animals, and her grandchildren; who affectionately called her "Monie". She was preceded in death by her mother, Carole Lipe and her daughter, Laura McGuffee Adcock. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Scrutchins of the home, her father Mickey Lipe, of Shawnee, a son and two step-sons: Kris McGuffee and wife Shellie of Monument, Colorado; step-son Sean Scrutchins and wife Devon of Denver, Colorado; step-son Evan Scrutchins and wife Christina of Loveland, Colorado. Five sisters and one brother: Belinda Hobbs of Shawnee, Dr. Mark Lipe and wife Cheryl of Arcadia, Oklahoma; Lisa Gillaspy of Edmond, Oklahoma; Laura Stepp and husband Kaleb of Bowie, Texas; Leslie Lipe Ainesworth of Shawnee and Marcie Meeks and husband Mark of Seminole, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren are Naomie, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Liam, Allie and Tidus. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Doctors Merle Davis and Braden Parmer; Neurologists Elizabeth Bryniarski and Salmon Zubair; the Elara Caring Hospice Team; and Stephanie Myers of Home Instead, Ramona's Home Health Aide for the past four years. There will be two services. People are invited to attend either or both. A memorial, celebrating the life of Ramona with memories, music and stories will be held at Walker Funeral and Cremation Services in Shawnee on August 13th and 10am. At 1pm, on that same day, there will be a Requiem Mass at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee, presided by the Right Reverend Poulson Reed, bishop of Oklahoma and the Reverend Tom Dahlman, rector of Emmanuel. The homily will be delivered by the Reverend Elizabeth Davis, long time friend of the Scrutchins family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to give to the charity of your choice in honor of Ramona. They request you consider the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
