Frances Haymore Obituary
Frances Brewer Matherly Haymore, 88, of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at her home.
She was born in Radford on May 26, 1936, daughter of the late Charlie P. and Callie B. Brewer.
Frances was a member of Living Word Baptist Church and had retired from Nationwide Insurance Company. She had also worked for Generations Solutions for several years. In her spare time the loved to crochet blankets for newborn babies and travel but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James A. Matherly, Jr.; two sons, Timothy D. Matherly and Joey D. Matherly; as well as her six siblings, Gertrude Atkinson, Mildred Hodges, Virginia Trusler, Edith Meadows, Payton Brewer and Henry Brewer.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rebecca M. Lewis; three grandchildren, Mary Frances Lewis, Ray Carlin Lewis, Jr., and Brandon Dean Lewis; as well as four great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Angel Lewis, Xavier Wyatt Lewis, Jaden Carter Lewis, and Hailie Marie Lewis.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A service celebrating her life and faith will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2025, in the Pate Chapel at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Falwell and Pastor Marvin Suitt officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
