Maddling Loving Addison
AMHERST - Maddling Loving Addison, 91, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Russell Chancellor Addison. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Born May 12, 1915, in Arrington, she was a daughter of the late George Lewis and Corinne Mays Loving.
She was a member of the Amherst Baptist Church and for many years served as the office manager for Wilkins Construction Company. Maddling spent a lifetime helping to raise three generations of family.
She is survived by two sons, Russell Chancellor Addison Jr. and Lewis Carter Addison and wife, Ann; and a daughter, Judy Addison Mayberry, all of Amherst; six grandchildren, Kimberly Mayberry Jennings and husband, Chris, of Forest, Kelly Mayberry Rawlings and husband, Steve, of Christiansburg, Dana Corinne Addison of Philadelphia, Pa., Mark Chancellor Addison, Samuel Carter Addison and Gary Carroll Addison, all of Amherst; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron Allan Jennings, Peyton Elizabeth Jennings and Grayson Lee Rawlings; and a special caregiver, Teresa Lawhorne of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Cromwell Lewis Loving; and a son-in-law, Allan Ray Mayberry.
Funeral services will be conduced at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Driskill Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. John W. Gordon officiating. Private family burial will be in the Amherst Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the chapel.
To honor the memory of Maddling, the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Amherst Baptist Church Building Fund; or the Amherst Life Saving Crew.
