I loved Sam and Louise and remember the children well. It seems to me the last time I was with Louise, one daughter was in to weaving! Louise and I were good friends and worked on many projects together. Elliot and I send our condolences to the whole family. Both of your parents lived wonderful lives and contirbuted so much to the larger community. Rosel and Elliot Schewel

Very sorry to hear of Sam's passing. We were long time colleagues at Lynchburg College. He was a great field companion and accompanied me on many botanical field trips around central Virginia. He also participated in a three-week, extended field trip in Desert Biology to the US southwest. He and I had a very hard day of botanical exploration the day we hiked to the top of Flat Top Mt. from Wilkerson Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway and bushwacked off the east flank down to the Bedford reservoir. He was a master teacher and good friend. Blessings to the family!
