William Hamlett Obituary
William "Bill" Lewis Hamlett Sr., 90, of Conover, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
He was born on December 4, 1931, in Baltimore County, Md., to the late William Granville Hamlett and Annie Mae Turner Hamlett. Bill was a member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and was given the nickname "tomato man".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Jean Adkins Hamlett; son, William Lewis Hamlett Jr.; and son-in-law, William "Bill" Andrew Holt, III.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Pamela Hamlett Holt of Conover; brother, Homer Hudson of Lynchburg, Va.; sisters, Delores Booth of Concord, Va., and Roberta Martin of Amherst, Va.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Ashley Brown and daughter, Azi
A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church Family Life Center in Maiden. The Rev. Dwayne Martin will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church Family Life Center.
