I am delighted to receive this reminder of how much Mr. Taglino meant to me. He gave me so much more than just the opportunity to sing in an excellent chorus, he gave me the beginnings of a love for fine music that enriches my life every day. I'm surprised how often I think of Mr. Taglino fondly, and I'm happy for this opportunity to express my feelings.
Sincerely,
Ken Merena RHS '66, Mr. Taglino's student '60-62.

Yesterday evening, I was listening to the Carmina Burana, and remembering my time in Roslyn Junior HS from 1960-62, in the choir with Mr. Taglino. So I googled him and found this. I had never sung before, but because of him, I have loved singing ever since. In eighth grade, he led us in a concert of the entire Carmina Burana, bringing in friends of his to sing the solos. We did it from memory, which I later understood to be a huge undertaking, but he made it easy. He was the best. My only regret was that I never sought him out on social media to let him know how much his class meant to me.

I hope that some member of Mr. Taglino's family occasions to read this so that they know that I think about and revere Mr. Taglino for all he gave me when I was at RJHS. Of course we never expressed those things at the time, and I never took the opportunity to say that to Mr. Taglino after I left and I regret knowing that.
Please take some consolation in knowing that Mr. Taglino was loved and respected by many of us, his students.

This simply breaks my heart. I was listening to Orff's, Carmina Burana and that always makes me think of Mr. Taglino. When I was in the 7th grade at Roslyn Junior High School in 1960, Mr. Taglino invited me to join the prestigious Choral Arts Society and later, the elite group that he simply called, "The Special Chorus". As others here have said, Mr. Taglino wasn't afraid to tackle the most difficult works and this man changed my life because of his belief in me. At that time, I was already headed down a bad path, and Mr. Taglino was one of a good number of Roslyn teachers that helped change my course.
When we recorded Carmina Burana, because of Mr. Taglino's and Mr. Mo Schneider's connections, we got Jan Pierce, Robert Merrill and Susan Belink to sing as soloists for several of our performances.
I imagine that most readers of these postings are aware of what privilege we were blessed with just attending Roslyn Public Schools. Mr. Taglino was one of those special people I will remember until I die.

Upon googling his name, I am sorry to learn of Mr. Taglinos passing 2 years ago. Mr.T was the most significant teacher In my lifetime. I fondly recall being a part of the group of Jr. High students who recorded New Dimensions in Music at the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC. He engendered a love of music that lives on today. A true life changer. I will always be thankful for his guidance and friendship.

Tony Taglino was a generous loving teacher. I am a singing teacher and and he enriched my musical experience and education.
We recorded records with other students in junior high many years ago. He was a creative person who I will remember always as a wonderful influence in my young years.
Condolences to his family,

Tony Taglino was my music teacher in Jr Hi, but his influence impacted my musical life even into adulthood. He was one of my all-time "favs" , and many of the things I did as a music teacher were based on his example. He made being in chorus an honor and had us performing music that most high schools wouldn't even attempt (Orff, The Polovetsian Dances). A Mr Taglino music class was never dull and we learned so much. My sister and I were blessed and honored to sing at his wedding, beginning a career which I continue today. We also had the unique experience of providing the vocals for a Music Book Series, a recording session that he set up (and this was when I was already married). How amazing to have a teacher still looking out for his [former] students! The love he had for music, his students, and his family pervaded everything he did. He will be missed! God bless Tony Taglino and his family!!

Tony Taglino was one of those rare teachers who deeply impacted the lives of young people. He was a mentor who made his students feel special - those who had marvelous voices and those, like me, who just loved to sing.
Tony Taglino has left a legacy of love of music and...simply love.
Thank you Mr. T.
With so much gratitude,

Tony Taglino had a tremendous influence on me. His encouragement was wonderful and effective, and he challenged 12 and 13 year old students to successfully perform music that few teachers and directors would present to such young people. My first big solo in only 7th grade was Domine Deus from Vivaldi Gloria! I've been singing ever since and I'm pretty old now. I loved Mr T and continued to visit him and his family in my adulthood. He went out of his way to see me perform then, too. He was a man of great personality, with energy, talent, the gift to teach and bring out the best in others, and joy! He was very very special!

I concur with Paul Lehrman, my classmate. I particularly remember that he awarded "halos," little circles drawn in his memo book, for anything that a student did well in class. It was a wonderful expression of his charm and humor. Mr. T, always.

Tony was my favorite teacher of all time, hands down. He was an inspiration to me and hundreds of other Roslyn kids. He showed me that music could (and SHOULD) be fun! Not just something you did to please your parents. His long struggle with MS defines the word "valiant," and the love and good humor he effused all his life will always be with us.
