Douglas Marcus Obituary
Bernard and Sylvia Marcus, he grew up in Somerville, NJ with his brothers, Ronnie and Randy;
and sister, Joan. In high school, Doug excelled at tennis, piano and saxophone. Doug studied chemistry at Cornell, medicine at Northwestern and specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry. He was unit chief of child and adolescent services at Kings County Hospital and supervised fellows at Northwell. Doug's dedication, compassion, humor, curiosity, and his kind helpful staff, contributed to his long fulfilling career. Doug loved running in sandals in midday July, reading, skiing, dancing, singing and traveling. His smile sparkled and his laugh delighted. Doug is grieved by his wife of 54 years, Judith; his children, Joshua (Alethea) and Rebecca (Casey); three grandchildren, two brothers, seven nieces and nephews, and a multitude of family and friends. Services private. Funeral Service Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 1pm at Riverside-Nassau North Chapel, 55 N. Station Plaza, Great Neck, NY 11021.

Douglas Marcus, M.D.
Doug, as we called him was an excellent child psychiatrist, a wonderful communicator and a great human being. He had been at South Oaks before I joined it in 1992. We worked together for few years before he went in to private practice with an office in Amityville and Great Neck.
Dr. Marcus had a great relationship with the staff and the administration, very friendly and socially engaged. We kept in touch after he left South Oaks and often discussed mutual patients. He left an incredible mark on us during the time I was at South Oaks which was another 15 years
It's a great loss for us all. My heartfelt condolences for his wife Judith, his children and the entire Marcus family
