Raymond Joseph Warenik

WARENIK - Raymond Joseph, of West Islip, NY, died peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2010. He was 78 years old. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carolee (nee Sottung), their three children: Raymond Warenik, Jr. and his wife Colleen, Cynthia Serini and her husband Larry andAllison Warenik-Queenan and her husband Timothy, and their four grandchildren: Chelsea Warenik, Raymond Warenik, III, Amanda Serini and Rebecca Serini. Raymond was born in Westbury, NY, the youngest of four children born to Polish immigrants Felix Warenik and Anastazia Lepska. He served as a sergeant in the 17th Infantry Regiment of the 7th Infantry Division inKorea, where he was wounded in action on July 8, 1953 andreceived a Purple Heart medal for his service. Raymond later worked for over 35 years at Grumman Corporarion and then concurrently began his ownincome tax preparation business, which he ran for over 35 years out of his home. Raymond was an avid antiquecollector, blackjack player, fisherman and gardener. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). Visiting Sunday, August 1st from 2:00PM until 4:30PM and 7:00PM until 9:30PM. AFuneral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, August 2nd at 12:00PM. Interment with military honors to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Pinelawn, LI. In lieu of flowers, Raymond's family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Pkwy, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
