Vivian Logan Obituary

LOGAN - Vivian Farrell, 85, of Liberty Drive, Lindenhurst, beloved wife of Charles Hoffmann, entered into eternal life on Monday, September 21, 2015. She will be remembered for her colorful spirit, and full life. Born in Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn, Vivian was the daughter of the late Irving and Anne Fein. She was a graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She had a Master's degree in Educational Theater from NYU and she taught elementary school and kindergarten for a number of years. Vivian was also a professional actress and accomplished pianist as well. She became known as the Musical Storyteller, entertaining children on radio, television, in schools, libraries, malls, and even at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Recital Hall. Later she added other performances such as the story of Amelia Earhart. She wrote the book, Robert's Tall Friend, a story of the Fire Island Lighthouse. She was active in many related local organizations in Long Island. Vivian received a special honor from the New York State Legislature for her work. She was predeceased by husbands Harvey Lewis and Tracy Logan. She is survived by a brother Frederick Fein of Lantana, Florida, his three children, two first cousins who were much like sisters to her, Lucille (Burton) Saunders, of Nyack and Phyllis (Hank) Bobrow, of Florida, and 6 stepchildren. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26th at 10 am at the Lindenhurst Funeral Home, 424 S. Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst, NY 11757, (631) 957-0300. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday September 25th from 7-9 pm and 9-10am on Saturday the 26th. The family of Vivian Logan wishes to thank all of the helpful staff at South Shore Hospital as well as the East Neck Nursing Home. In addition, there are special friends, and neighbors including Kristiana and James MacLaren, Gayle Haines, Kathy Marchino and Amy and Al Eriksen. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society, www.fireislandlighthouse.com, or the charity of your choice.

Dearest Vivian , every time I see something about Amelia or hear a classic song from one of your childrens shows I remember working with you as your audio engineer! You were one of the most unique and multi talented people I have ever worked with and I will always cherish our friendship ! God bless you and keep you.

She was a spirited member of our Long Island Children's Writers and Illustrators group for many years, hosting annual summer parties at her home where she would graciously preside and entertain. A lovely person of many talents. We will miss her.
