Barbara Parker Obituary
Barbara Jean Parker, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024. She was born to Emma Moses and Harry Pitka on Sept. 10, 1946, in Tanana. She was raised in Fairbanks and Stevens Village by her grandparents, Henry and Mabel Moses.
Although Barbara had no children of her own, she had her nieces, nephews, goddaughter and all of their children to treasure and love. Her nieces and nephews would take her all over the place, including the families fish camp near Stevens Village. She loved being on the land getting fish, berries and eating traditional native foods.
Barbara was very adventurous her entire life, traveling around and doing what she wanted. Her independence showed. In the last few years, when she was no longer allowed to drive a vehicle, she got in her electric wheelchair and would travel all over Fairbanks, charging her chair along the way. Some of her journeys were epic and maybe a little scary, but she managed to get through it.
Barbara had a heart of gold, and she was very humorous; she made everyone around her smile and laugh with her words. Some of the silliest sayings and phrases. She always had something hilarious to say then smile extremely big. All of her providers and care coordinators loved her as well. Barbara will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
