Daniel Bollman Obituary

Former Alaska resident Daniel Alan Bollman of Flippin, Ark., passed away Feb. 9, 2011, at Hospice House of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Ark. He was 62 years old.
Dan was born July 4, 1948, at Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Leo Enoch and Marjorie Ann (Lange) Bollman.
Dan was a 1966 graduate of M-F-L Community High School in Monona, Iowa, and a 1971 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Stout, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in industrial education. He married Carolyn Lange on Aug. 18, 1970, in Columbus, Wis.
Alaska called in 1971, and Dan and Carolyn moved to Kodiak, where he taught at the Kodiak Regional High School. Life in Alaska was an adventure that took him to every corner of the state. Dan worked for Wien Air Alaska from 1977 to 1984, and he was airport manager at the Wiley Post/Will Rogers Airport in Barrow from 1986 to 2008.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking, camping and boating on the Yukon River. Dan moved to Arkansas after retirement, sang with the Ozark Choral Society and loved spending time wood working and playing guitar.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; brother, Roger (Dorene) Bollman of Volney, Iowa; sister, Brenda Bostrom of Vancouver, Wash.; niece, Erin Bollman of Des Moines, Iowa, and nephew, Alex Justin Bollman of Fort Collins, Colo.
Carolyn took Dan home to the hills of Northeast Iowa on his birthday, July 4, where his family and many old friends welcomed him. Stories were told and pictures shared of a life well lived.

Carolyn, I am so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I know only too well that words can not really help ease the pain However, we know that the words expressed are done so with caring and loving hearts. We can take comfort in knowing that our loved ones are no longer in pain. Take care.

Dear Carolyn,

I am so sorry to read about Dano. I remember all the great times we had at Barrow. Dano had such a great sense of humor, and he was always getting on someone's case in an entertaining manner. I was thinking that maybe a picture of him in a Toga would be so appropriate. I think of you and my other friends of Barrow all the time. I live in houston now, and plan to stay here. God bless you and prayers going out.
