He was born Dec. 18, 1975, in Anchorage, to Mary Houlahan Amouak and Ralph Amouak.
Ralph spent most of his youth in Eagle River with his foster dad, Gene Augustine. His foster mother lived in Anchorage and participated in his guidance.
He was an avid Alaska hunter and fisherman, active in Boy Scouts; he attended summer camps locally and in Hawaii. Ralph was creative as a cook, and a hard worker in construction in New Mexico, Minnesota, Kansas, Oregon, Alaska and California. In recent years Ralph was active in Native American issues including protection of sacred sites and rights of indigenous tribes.
He was proudest of his daughter, Violet Abeytzi Amouak, born in 2002.
Ralph is survived by his daughter Violet Amouak, of Kansas City, Mo.; his father Ralph Amouak of Anchorage; his sisters Lori Amouak, of Fox, and Cassandra Amouak, of Seattle.

We fondly remember young Ralph as a soft-spoken, curious young Boy Scout, who enjoyed adventure, learning, and having fun with his friends. He and our son James were in the same troop. Our thoughts and prayers for Ralph's large-loving family.
