Linda, Mist and family, I am sorry to hear about your loss. All these years have gone by but it still seems like yesterday you were living in the big blue house on the corner and we were making puppets at the kitchen table. I miss you all. Take care - God speed.

It was my privilage to work with "Merle the Pearl" during my teacher and counseling years at BEHS. Merle was a teacher's teacher who never sought the limelight or fanfare as he nurtured kids through their junior and senior high school days. He had a steady calmness in the most difficult situations and I really admired his generosity and patience. BEHS has truly lost a gem and I grieve with them and Merle's family.

Goodbye Merle, you will be sorely missed by many. You helped me start my teaching career with the district at BEHS. Over the years we had many visits together and you were always willing to share your experiences and any new projects you had good luck with in the classroom. One of your many friends!

We had the pleasure of knowing Merle through BEHS. He became a good friend to my family and I and would do anything for anyone. He was always a kind soul and I will always remember his smiling face. I am deeply saddened by his passing. We were car pool buddies for several years and remained good friends once I left BEHS. My husband and I would stop by to visit Merle and Linda and he was always showing off his new projects. He enjoyed his John Deere tractors, garden landscaping, and other projects around the house. We will miss him dearly. He was an inspiration to the teaching profession. Your good heartedness will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to know you.

Mr. Winkleman was a great teacher. I went to Eielson from 91-94. I had him as a wood shop teacher and he was always smiling, and I believe he is still smiling! May God bless your family and bring peace to your hearts! Mindy (mooberry) Jefferson class of 95

We are grateful to have had the opportunity at parent-teacher conferences (Feb) to express what a difference he made in my son's life at BEHS. Jacob would never had the opportuntiy to have made the beautiful wood products that he did without Mr. Winkleman's help. He brought home a beautiful bowl last night that they made together. This will be a reminder for the rest of Jacob's life the difference this teacher has made to him. Our sympathies go out to all family members and friends. He will be missed. Baugh family at BEHS
