I´m sure his mansion will be one of the most beautiful in light of the mansion of beautiful lives that he bestowed his gifts on. I would have loved to have known him but I k ow a small part of him in his fine son Rick, my cousin Vida´s husband. I´m sure his legacy will live on here as he dicovers new ventures in his home on high.

Wow, what a beautiful, engaged and meaningful life he lived. Wish I had known him. He will live on in beautiful Donna and the Atlantis he built that so many enjoy.

AC always had a smile, a hug, and an invitation to `sit and visit ` every time I saw him. Both AC, Dot, AND the rest of the family, always made me feel like a part of theirs. The warmth and genuine caring that they shared as owners of the Atlantis made it a "safe haven" for me. A place to celebrate, to grieve, to work, and to have fun. Few people, and families, in my life have had the special meaning that the Atlantis family has had, and perhaps I don´t tell them often enough.
AC´s family has always made the Atlantis a "dog friendly" place to vacation. Improvements to the property were not only made for the comfort of guests, but also for the four legged family members who are so important to us.
I have enjoyed being one of the artists who have contributed to the site. From dog paintings, and pre-hurricane photos on display in the lobby, to specialty birdhouses on the property, to the joy of painting several of their dogs.
It has also been a fun adventure to meet and sometimes help with the Atlantis family dogs. Cody, the big English Golden Retriever, was the first, and my Cody, Labrador Retriever, learned how to play together. They had matching leashes, (which we still use roday) and toys. Atlantis Cody had a bit of a stubborn streak in him, only to be settled by my husband biting Cody on the nose, when Cody nipped at him. After that, they were fast friends!
I learned not to be surprised when I arrived at the Atlantis for a vacation and there would be a birdhouse, or a pumpkin, or a cornhole game , or something in the room with a directive/request to "paint the Atlantis logo" for them.
On the 50th anniversary of the Atlantis, I painted a birdhouse that looked like the hotel. It has since seen better days to the weather, so a second one has been painted. I think it might be time for a third. When I sell my painted birdhouses at galleries or a commission, I´m often asked " how do you test them for holding up in the weather." My answer is simple, "go to the Atlantis Lodge, that `s my test site."
AC was such a special man, and friend. I continued to ask him if I could be adopted, but he laughed and would reply, " that would be great, but I keep having these grandchildren....so additional position is not yet available." And then laugh that deep, warm laugh of his.
He was a special man who has made a positive impact on my life, again, I don´t think I told him often enough, or the family. The world has been a better place because of AC, and he will be sorely missed. However, I am sure Dot and the rest of his family are among the angels watching over us, and for that, I feel a bit safer every day.
I loved him, and he loved all of us. Our lives are just a bit better having known AC Hall, and for that I am grateful.
Hugs to all!
