Yesterday

I first heard of Andy Holt when I was in kindergarten at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind. Over many years I and other blind and low vision people heard about his accomplishments in judo, wrestling, and later as a business man. I could write much more, but I want to let everyone know that Andy set a standard of excellence for many people soldiering through life as blind people. Andy lived the life that he wanted to and was not defined by his blindness but by perseverance, kindness, joy and professionalism. The world needs more people like Andy.

One of my favorite memories is when Uncle Andy came to visit my dad and we went to a club called the Sandpiper I was maybe 20 years old. We danced several times and he was so happy. He always called me on my birthday. He wouldn´t say Happy Birthday he would sing it. Iloved him very much and I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with my cousins. RIP Uncle Andy.
