Bessie Vinson Obituary

Bessie Lee Parker Vinson, 86, died Tuesday at Britthaven Nursing Home in Snow Hill.
A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late I.L. Parker and Bessie Rodgers Parker and was the widow of Norwood Vinson. She was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where she served as pianist and organist. Mrs.Vinson was an avid church leader and was a long time Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the New Hope Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department and was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary Salvation Army.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Grady officiating. Graveside services will beheld Thursday at 10 a.m. in Vinson Family Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Joyce Vinson of Atlantic Beach; grandchildren, George R. Vinson, Jr., Woody Vinson, Sherry Vinson and Roger Vinson and wife, Beth; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special couple who she loved dearly, Sam and Rose Mangum.
She was preceded in death by sons, George R. Vinson, Sr. and Norwood Vinson, Jr.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church, 4009 Central Heights Rd., Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to the New Hope Fire Department.
The family will receive friends following the service until 9 p.m. and other times at the residence of Woody Vinson, 100 Woodrose Ave., Goldsboro, NC.
