Columbus Eagles Obituary
June 4, 1946 - October 14, 2021
Rolesville, North Carolina - Columbus Franklin "Frank" Eagles, III, 75, went peacefully to be with our Lord on October 14, 2021. Frank was born in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, came to Raleigh for college at NCSU, and remained in Wake County for the remainder of his life. His was a life full of service. He retired after a long career with the NC Department of Administration where he was on the team tasked with creating Motor Fleet Management. After retirement he continued his service to Rolesville, his new hometown, culminating his involvement as Mayor Eagles for 12 years. Frank led his Town through a period of booming growth, which is inevitable as the area grows, but it was handled thoughtfully. Rolesville is still changing from implementation of projects he spearheaded. But his service was not only to Rolesville, but to Wake County as a whole. He wanted people to have plenty to eat, local healthcare, necessities of life and he worked to find a way to make it a realization, if any way possible. Many a meal he delivered during the throws of COVID; many a Thanksgiving turkey he worked to get on the tables of those who might not otherwise eat that holiday. When he received a call to serve or put out a call to others to serve with him, many were blessed with the answer to the call. So many friendships were made, nurtured and cherished through his giving and working for others.
Frank is survived by his wife, Pamela Southerland Eagles; his daughter Catherine Leigh Eagles and husband, Rodney Winters; his son Columbus Franklin FRANKIE Eagles, IV and wife Lea Eagles. He was blessed with a grandson, Columbus Franklin COL Eagles, V, and granddaughters Carly, Kaley and Riley Martin.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, 10/17/21, at Richland Creek Community Church at 3229 Burlington Mills Rd, Wake Forest, NC. The family will receive friends from 2pm to 3pm and the service will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Frank Eagles Memorial Foundation, making donations via Village Church Rolesville, with the Frank Eagles Memorial Foundation in the memo line of your check. The Foundation will help local food pantries and hold an annual Day of Service each October 14th with volunteers working in the community in Frank's Memory.

I worked with Frank in the mid 80´s at Motor Fleet Mgmt. He was a great boss and friend. So sorry to hear he has passed. Thoughts and prayers for his family.

To the Eagles Family. Frank was a true friend who always looked for ways to be of service. I will miss my buddy! Be proud of the legacy he leaves because so many people benefited from his long hours of hard work. I will treasure our conversations and will try to emulate his service spirit! With Sincere Sympathy to Frank's family. I was a Forbes and was raised as was Frank, on a farm 1.3 miles from Crisp NC. He had a wonderful Mother and Daddy and I see by the obituary that Frank carried that same trait to Rolesville/Wake County/ and to his family.

I met Frank thru the internet on a bass fishing site. we stayed in touch till near his passing. He came to visit and to fish here on Toledo Bend one time. We sat on my front porch and had some great talks. I'll really miss him. God bless his wife and family during this time of grief to give them strength.
